Targa Competition Classes
Targa competition classes follow the SCCA National Time Trial Classes, but with a little more wiggle room—because, at the end of the day, Targa is all about fun! That means if your car is legally prepped for one of the base classes, you’re good to go. But if your ride mostly fits a class or is slightly underprepared but has a modification that wouldn’t normally be allowed, we’ll slot you into the best-fitting class to keep things fair and competitive.
A word of caution for the rule-benders out there—if you try to loophole your way to an easy win, you won’t get a free pass. Instead, you'll get bumped up a class. So keep it simple, play fair, and remember: this is all about having a great time.
When you sign up, you’ll let us know which Time Trial class your car belongs in. Before the event, we’ll assign each car to the most appropriate Targa class—no need to stress over the details. Here's a basic breakdown of how the classes will be structured:

Targa Competition Scoring
Targa events are all about performance—but let’s be real, they’re mostly about having a blast. Scoring isn’t just about how fast you tear up the track; off-track antics count too. Sure, your lap times rack up the most points, but there are plenty of other ways to climb the leaderboard.
Want extra points? Show up to the driver’s meeting on time (seriously, it’s that easy). Crush a social media challenge. Earn the respect (and votes) of your fellow competitors. Some points come from your peers, others from event officials, but every challenge is a chance to shake things up.
Bottom line? You don’t have to be the fastest to land on the podium—you just have to play the game right. And who knows? You might just win the whole dang thing.
