Registration for the July 19-20, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA, is now open, and you won’t want to miss the opportunity to tame the Tricky Triangle. “Tame” will be the name of the game at this stop of the Time Attack Challenge, too, because if you think hitting one racetrack configuration over the course of two days is boring, we have good news for you: You won’t be bored at Pocono. To put drivers to the test, this event will pit drivers against two different road course configurations during the two days of competition.
That’s only one of the things you’ll need to know before registering for the Time Attack Challenge at Pocono. What are the others? We’ll tell ya…
Course Configurations
First, let’s dig deeper into the two course configurations in one weekend.
On Saturday, July 19, drivers will face off on the 2.53-mile route known as the North/South Option 3. This shoots drivers down the front straight and into the infield where they’ll hang a right to wind through a series of twists and turns that challenge even the best of drivers. Then it’s a dive through NASCAR Turn 2 before cutting back into the infield via a series of flowing turns to return to the front straight.
On Sunday, July 20, it’s time to hit North/South Option 2. This 2.26-mile setup is a fast and flowing configuration that’s similar to Saturday’s adventure, but Option 2 cuts out the more technical aspect of the east side of the track, which means these laps will come fast.
Beat It!
That’s one thing you need to know about this event. The second involves the times you’ll be shooting for during the competition weekend. Turns out, these are the same configurations as last year’s event, so there are a number of track records to aim for.
For example, this year Daniel Dobalo has the biggest target on his back. Piloting his Tuner 1 Chevrolet Corvette, last year he turned the best lap of 1:34.978 on North/South Option 2, then set the North/South Option 3 overall record with a 1:55.958.
Daniel’s mark, and all the other lap times you’ll be aiming for this year, can be found in last year’s event results.
Event Dates
You already know that the event takes place July 19-20 – that’s no surprise. Arguably the most important date, however, comes in mid-May.
