We’ve teased it, announced it, and now it’s (nearly) here! Targa Texasland is about to take place April 30-May 4, 2025, and with that week cresting the Texas horizon, this is your final chance to join the fun.
What fun? All the fun, that’s what!
SCCA® Targas are multi-city, multi-discipline events where a team of two drive from motorsports facility to motorsports facility to compete not just for top honors, but also for the thrill of the drive. This year, a trio of Targa events bring the fun to Texas, the south, and the Chicago area, with the first of the trifecta taking place in the Lone Star State.
Since Targa Texasland hits the road (and the track) on April 30, there’s no time to delay. Register immediately, then check out the details.
On the Road Again
Back for the first time since 2017 and boasting three incredible events in one year, Targa Texasland is leading the triple Targa charge in style.
Targa Texasland begins its adventure on April 30 at 11 a.m. as drivers roll into Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX (although for some, the week of fun begins when they drop any tow rigs and trailers off at Eagles Canyon Raceway about an hour north of Motorsport Ranch).
At Motorsport Ranch, drivers will enjoy two practice sessions to familiarize themselves with the track’s 11 turns that span 1.7 miles, then they’ll put all they’ve learned into action in a three-lap cumulatively-timed session. Come 5 p.m. that day, everyone will hit the road heading south for the next day’s action.
On May 1 (8 a.m., to be precise) the event begins at Harris Hill in San Marcos, TX. Like the previous day, Targa Texasland drivers will receive a pair of practice sessions before throwing down a cumulatively-timed three-lap run round the 1.82-mile, 11-turn circuit. But there’s a twist: This day actually begins on the autocross course with the fastest of six timed runs adding to each team’s overall score.
Come 2 p.m., everyone will be on the road again, but this time heading east to MSR Houston in Angleton, TX.
By the time Targa teams hit MSR Houston’s 2.38-mile, 17-turn racetrack on May 2, they should be familiar with the routine – if you can call Targa “routine.” Drivers will pull into the facility by 8 a.m., then soon thereafter have two sessions to learn the track, followed by three laps that are cumulatively timed for their overall score. Come 1 p.m., teams will be heading northwest of Fort Worth with Eagles Canyon Raceway in their sights.
The May 3-4 weekend is a special one, as Targa Teams converge with Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge drivers for a weekend of competition at Eagles Canyon. This track offers 2.75 miles and 15 turns of thrills, with Targa teams celebrating with an award ceremony on Saturday evening.
Note that an entry into the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge is included in the Targa Texasland registration fee, which means each team’s primary Targa entrant gets to run all weekend at Eagles Canyon. Should a Targa team’s co-driver also choose to enter the Time Attack Challenge, they’ll need to register for that event separately.
Targa Texasland event results will be derived from the total points earned using a combination of each team's fastest cumulative laps, their best autocross run, and then social and peer judged elements – with the potential for bonus points for general awesomeness.
I’m in! How do I Register?
Hold up! There’s one more piece of information we need to give, and that’s the price.
The entry fee for Targa Texasland is $1,150. That fee, however, is the all-in price for two drivers, track time at four racetracks, six autocross runs, and a free entry into the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge at Eagles Canyon Raceway (the Time Attack Challenge entry is a $500 value).
The memories you’ll make along the way? Those are priceless!
If you’ve ever wanted to do one epic road trip, this is it. Register today – and we’ll see you in Texas!
