Industry professional Jeff Barrow joined the Sports Car Club of America® staff on March 18, 2024, as the Club’s new Director of Road Racing, bringing with him more than 30 years of industry experience and expertise. Through those years, Barrow has been a Club member, racer, and has worked with a multitude of companies that do business with SCCA and its subsidiaries, making him exceptionally ideal for this role.
The Director of Road Racing is responsible for managing SCCA’s amateur Road Racing program, including the U.S. Majors Tour®, Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour, and National Championship Runoffs®, as well as working with Club members and leaders within the SCCA Road Racing program.
“We are excited to have Jeff join the SCCA Road Racing team,” said SCCA’s Vice President of Road Racing Eric Prill. “We have been motorsports colleagues for years, and he brings with him a passion for the organization through his years of membership. He also brings experience from the manufacturer and supplier side, as well as great business management and development skillsets.”
Among others, Barrow has worked for Honda Performance Development, Ligier Automotive North America, Radical Motorsport, and Wellman Friction Products, which owns brands like Hawk Performance.
“The Club has been such a big part of my life, family, and career in motorsports,” said Barrow. “I started out racing Improved Touring Civics and spent the majority of my Club Racing career in a Spec Racer Ford. My last Runoffs appearance was in Indy in 2017 in a GT-3 Acura. Needless to say, I’ve been around for a while in a few different classes.
“Professionally, I’ve worked closely with the SCCA Staff over the years to launch and support several great manufacturer platforms, and I’m very excited and honored to join the team as we continue to build on the SCCA Road Racing program."
Barrow will spend time at the SCCA National Office in Topeka, KS, at events supporting the SCCA Road Racing program, and at his home office in North Carolina.
To ensure a smooth transition, Barrow will work alongside outgoing Road Racing Director Deanna Flanagan throughout the 2024 season, as she shifts to her own new role as SCCA’s Director of Program Services.
“I’ve known Jeff for many years, and I’m excited for him to join the team,” said Flanagan, who was integral in hiring her replacement. “Jeff brings a unique set of experiences and skills and is going to be a great addition to the Road Racing program.”
As the Director of Program Services, Flanagan will join SCCA’s Business Operations department, where she will blend her experience in sanctioning, risk management, registration, and worker initiatives into a newly-created position to benefit all of SCCA’s events and programs.
“We are fortunate to continue to have Deanna involved in the transition through the remainder of the season,” Prill said. “She has been a critical component in the success and experience of SCCA’s Road Racing program, and she will continue to do so in her new role serving SCCA’s broader range of programs and events.”
“My time in Road Racing has been more fulfilling than I ever would’ve expected,” Flanagan said. “I’ve worked with many amazing people along the way and look forward to maintaining those relationships and creating new ones in my next role.”
