This weekend’s Sports Car Club of America® event at World Wide Technology Raceway is the first time SCCA’s St. Louis Region and Southern Illinois Region have partnered to host a Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour event. However, both regions have been part of the Club for a long time. In fact, their combined histories measure out to more than 135 years of having fun with cars!
Chartered in 1949, SCCA’s St. Louis Region is the epicenter of sports car competition and appreciation in the St. Louis area. The Region strives to provide fair, fun, competitive and safe events that bring increased and sustained participation. As organizers of competition events both on and off road, activities include Solo®, RallyCross, Performance Rally, Road Racing, Performance Driving and Road Rally. There are also social activities, technical seminars and much more each year to bring members together to share good times. To learn more about the St. Louis Region, visit https://www.stlscca.org/.
Celebrating its 65th anniversary, the Southern Illinois Region was chartered in 1955 and caters to automotive enthusiasts from St. Louis to Carbondale. Primarily focusing current efforts on social events, the 80-member Region has been supporting the Road Racing efforts of St. Louis Region since the mid-1990s. The two regions have been co-hosting events at World Wide Technology Raceway for the better part of two decades.
These two days of competition from World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, will be the first time Hoosier Super Tour has been back in action since February’s visit to Buttonwillow Raceway Park in California. Some new COVID-19 event guidelines in place may change things up a little, but volunteers from the St. Louis Region and Southern Illinois Region are more than up to the task. Unfortunately, this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour is a non-spectator event. But race fans can still follow all the action online with live Timing & Scoring, video cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire at www.scca.com/live.
