Jot down a few words about your helmet, share a bit about what went into creating the design, tell us about the artist, take a couple pictures of the helmet and send it along via email to media@scca.com.)
Chi Ho is a B-Spec racer who has won U.S. Majors Tour events and finished second at the 2016 SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. His golden helmet, adorned with a laurel wreath on its dome, is a collaboration with Mike Savage of Savage Design to create a look mimicking the helmet of gladiators.
“Ever since I was little, I’ve been captivated by the glory of Roman warriors and gladiators,” Chi said. “I feel that when I enter a race, we are battling other drivers with our skills and the will to win. Although we are not battling for our life, I am so competitive that I sometimes do agree with the phrase ‘if you are not first, you are last.’”
A helmet design element reaching back a few thousand years? Now that’s “old school” and pretty cool in our book. Battle on, Chi. Battle on.
