50th and Final Covered Bridge Rally for USRRC

50th and Final Covered Bridge Rally Ahead for United States Road Rally Challenge

TOPEKA, Kan. (October 11, 2016) -- The 50th and final Covered Bridge Rally, put on by the New England Region, will occur Nov. 4-6 near Mount Snow Resort in West Dover, Vermont, and serve as the 2016 United States Road Rally Challenge.

This straightforward, Time-Speed-Distance tour rally of approximately 140 miles will honor Theodore “Ted” Goddard, the longtime Covered Bridge Rally organizer who passed away earlier this year. The rally’s name came from Ted's love of covered bridges, which are featured extensively in this United States Road Rally Challenge.

Limited to 50 teams, the rally Saturday will be divided into two runs consisting of a morning and afternoon section. Each will begin and end at Mount Snow Resort. Contestants should expect to navigate across unpaved public roads and along “Ted Goddard divided highways.” Online registration can be found here.

Then planned for Sunday is "A Bridge Too Far" rally designed by rallymaster John Buffum. This will be a moderately trapped Time-Speed-Distance rally suited for participants beyond the Novice level. Traps may include -- but are not limited to -- those based on timing, speed, main road designations and signage.  Those that do “fall” for a trap will be provided instructions to get back on track after a short detour.

A Bridge Too Far will be a half-day rally so competitors can head on their journey home by the middle of the afternoon. Entry will be limited to the first 35 teams to sign up, and online registration found here.
