Annually, the SCCA sanctions over 2,000 events through its 115 Regions and professional subsidiary. Each event takes a lot of planning and work to pull off. But weekend after weekend, dedicated volunteers across the country make it happen, and do a darn good job.
A few weeks back, MotorsportReg’s Dan Broughan made his first ever visit to the WeatherTech® Chicago Region SCCA U.S. Majors Tour June Sprints. Along with witnessing a great weekend of racing, he got a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what it takes to pull off just such an event.
“Everyone involved loves racing and it’s why we got out of bed that morning,” Broughan noted. “But to see the friendships and camaraderie established from this sport was something that was just beautiful to be a part of.”
You can read all about Broughan’s visit over at the MotorsportReg.com blog. And of course, it’s easy enough to volunteer at a local SCCA event to get your own glimpse behind the curtain.
