
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Feb. 11, 2009) - The Mid-West Division of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) proudly announces the details of its upcoming 2009 MiDiv Convention. Title sponsor SAFERACER, an auto racing equipment retailer, will present the event at the Kansas City Airport Hilton Hotel on March 6 8, 2009. The goal of this years Divisional Convention is to generate new, innovative ideas to energize members. The theme of the event is Something for EVERYone!The MidDiv Convention, typically a fall event, has been moved to early March to generate momentum for the upcoming 2009 season of amateur SCCA events and to capitalize on the excitement and good ideas coming out of the SCCA National Convention in February. We decided to move it to the spring to focus on training and help pass the information and energy from the SCCA National Convention to as many members as possible, according to Lisa Noble, SCCA Area 6 Director and Manhattan, Kan., native. The convention culminates in a banquet on Saturday night, which will feature a keynote speech by SCCAs new president, Jeff Dahnert. The conventions seminars throughout the weekend are designed to reach out to club members participating in every type of SCCA program Solo, Club Racing, RoadRally and RallyCross.Seminars include Improved Driving Skills for all SCCA Drivers, which will be presented by veteran driver and instructor Duck Waddle. Solo Car Set Up and Tips for Suspension will feature Dave Whitworth. The St. Louis Region PDX Program Committee will also be on hand to present a comprehensive tutorial on holding a successful PDX event.
