There’s a fine line between Hot-lanta and Rain-lanta, but the Tire Rack SCCA® ProSolo® Atlanta National Tour rode that line to near perfection during the April 4-6, 2025, event at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
One of the fastest ovals in the country, it turns out that Atlanta Motor Speedway can also house fast moving ProSolo side-by-side autocross courses in its wide-open asphalt parking lots, as this was ProSolo’s debut at the facility. Atlanta Region hosted not only a great event, but also a fantastic Friday night welcome party next to the starting line so competitors could grab some grub while heading out for their course walk. Continuing the party, there was also an informal Saturday night gathering.
While action on the Bryan Carbon-designed courses was packed with veteran autocrossers gunning for the top spots, it also (per tradition) featured newcomers attempting to master the program by improving through the weekend. To that end, the SCCA Women on Track Driver Development program recipient for Atlanta was Ashley Dougherty. An initiative created to aid one randomly selected woman at each Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour and ProSolo Series event with an opportunity for a one-on-one, 30-minute virtual coaching session with a top-tier driver from the sport, Dougherty took the personalized coaching she received and finished seventh in her A Street Porsche Cayman S in the Ladies Class 2.
Recipients of the weekend’s Howard Duncan Greenlight Fund – which offers free entries to select, first-time ProSolo entrants – were Shanna Richardson and Philip Rodning. Both drivers are now well on their way to moving up the results sheet.
Class Competition
Speaking of A Street, the class was plugged in all weekend, with two Tesla Model 3s just 0.106sec apart at the end of the runs. Dan Cochran held off Donovan Brown for the class victory.
The ND Miatas of C Street were nearly inseparable between Rick Cone and Andrew Pallotta. The duo posted nearly identical times on each side of the course, but Cone escaped with a 0.034sec win.
Darren DiSimo and Trevor Renson were just two-tenths apart on each side of the course, taking turns posting top times. DiSimo’s 1999 Mazda Miata ended up just 0.033sec ahead of Renson’s Toyota MR-2 to take the top spot in E Street.
With apologies to Antonio Garcia and Tommy Milner, Justin Peachy may be the best Corvette driver in the world right now. He’s crossed the country as an autocross and Time Attack ace, and in Atlanta topped the CAM class by 1.371sec.
Geraghty Anne Ellis led the way in Ladies Class 3, driving her DST-prepped Scion FR-S to a 0.317sec win over Ashley Weaver’s G Street Volkswagen GTI in the indexed class.

Challenge, by Vitour
Following class competitions, three brackets full of Challenge Qualifiers Presented by Vitour Performance Tires lined up for head-to-head battles. Unlike regular competition, however, some of the Challenges were done under the cover of rain.
In the Ladies Challenge, Geraghty Anne Ellis kept her winning ways moving, besting Jennifer Bedell in the final for the Ladies Challenge win. As the Ladies Challenge winner, Geraghty Anne Ellis will have the ability to present an SCCA Women on Track “Pay It Forward” certificate (which is good for a free National Solo event entry) to a female novice from her Region.
Then rain soaked the course – but that didn’t stop the action.
Jordan Towns won one for the ladies in the Bonus Challenge, opening with a win over Laura Marcus and then Aditya Madhaven in her B Street Toyota Supra to take the top spot. None of this was easy, as Towns flew in on Saturday night and jumped into a new-to-her car, missing a full day of runs – she obviously found her groove, though.
Trevor Renson is now undefeated in Super Challenge competition, marching through the field in his first-ever Super Challenge after finishing second to Darren DiSimo in class. After beating Rick Cone and Christian Kolme, he got his revenge over DiSimo in the final to take victory in the rain.
