There’s barely one month left in 2024 – where has the time gone? To doing fun stuff, that’s where! From RoadRallies to Rallycrosses, autocrosses, road races, and more, the Sports Car Club of America® hosted thousands of events this year, and tens of thousands of you jumped in as volunteers and/or participants. So, what does this have to do with member anniversaries? A lot!
It’s members like you who make these events awesome, and it’s events like these AND members like you who keep people coming back year after year. This month, it’s time to celebrate those members who have so much fun that every November for at least the last 25 years, they’ve renewed their SCCA membership.
While there are many members of note in the listing below, there are some whose names jump out at us. For instance, 25-year member James Blust is someone many SCCA National Championship Runoffs® attendees will recognize, as the Ohio Valley Region member has logged 16 Runoffs appearances between 2000 and 2021. Similarly, three-time Runoffs Champ and Lone Star Region member Matt Reynolds has 27 Runoffs starts to his name during his 30 years of Club membership.
Celebrating the 50-year mark is a very special worker, Mid-South Region member Mike West. For those who don’t know, West suffered a medical emergency during the 2024 Runoffs and is still recovering. A GoFundMe account was setup to assist in his needs and has well exceeded its original goal thanks in large part to the SCCA family.
Finally, this month’s longest running member is Northern New Jersey Region’s Fredric Aibel, who joined the Club 65 years ago this month. According to records, Aibel sports an impressive racing record that spans the 1950s and '60s wheeling a B Production Corvette.
