The SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® has upset a few incumbents on USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race. OK, the SCCA Runoffs didn’t finish first, but when you consider what events the Runoffs beat to get there, you’ll understand.
Last year’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race on USA Today’s 10Best.com ranked the Indy 500 at the top, with the U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals rounding out the top five. For 2024, however, USA Today readers voted the SCCA Runoffs into the fray, ranking the event fourth amongst very impressive company.
Here's how the 2024 USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race rankings turned out:

To make it onto the 2024 USA Today 10Best list, a group of USA Today editors independently selected 20 motorsports events, with readers then voting for their favorite event over the course of April. Readers could cast one vote per day until voting concluded on April 29.
“The fact that the Runoffs was both independently selected by USA Today, and then voted into the top four by its readers going against a list of incredible other motorsports events, is a testament to the power of the event,” said SCCA’s Director of Road Racing Jeff Barrow. “SCCA can’t thank the volunteers and racers enough for making the Runoffs an event that’s deserving of this honor. We can’t wait to get to Road America this September to celebrate at the 60th anniversary of the SCCA Runoffs.”
