Schedule Update for Packed Hoosier Super Tour at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

The third Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour (HST) event of 2025 is underway in Braselton, GA, at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Part of the Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing program, this particular HST gathering hosted by SCCA’s Atlanta Region will see on-track action March 7-9 around the 2.54-mile, 12-turn course found about an hour northeast of Georgia’s capital city.

Lots of drivers have come out to play, with around 240 entries overall. Due to car counts in some classes, organizers opted to adapt the weekend’s schedule. There will now only be seven run groups as Formula Continental®, Formula Enterprises® 2, Formula Atlantic®, Prototype and Prototype 2 have all been combined into the fifth run group. That allowed for the addition of 20-minute practice sessions for all drivers Friday morning.

The updated schedule can be accessed via the link below.

HST Road Atlanta Schedule

Big Fields for SRF3, SM and SMX

Spec Racer® Ford Gen3 (SRF3), Spec Miata (SM) and Spec MX-5 (SMX) are three of the most popular competition classes within SCCA Road Racing. So it’s not rare to see solid car counts for those contests. But Road Atlanta is going to see some really, really solid fields featuring fantastic talent.

The third run group will be a sight to see thanks to nearly 40 entries in SRF3. Included are names like Tray Ayres, in the No. 71 Ayres Motorsports car, and Bobby Sak driving the No. 19 Further Motorsport machine. Brian Schofield, in the No. 61 PM Racing car, and Robeson Clay Russell, driving the No. 31 Angry Llama/Moran Tugboats/Comprent Motorsports sled, are in Georgia as well. Those two swapped victories back in January during HST’s opening round at Sebring and almost certainly will make things interesting this weekend.

The SM and SMX fields are equally stacked with about 30 cars each. Reigning Runoffs® SM National Champion Ethan Goulart, in the No. 72 SCDA Track Days/Krugspeed/Kessler Engineering/ DLTC Equipment/Planet Miata Mazda, will be a factor in the seventh run group, especially after he swept SM HST victories in Florida. However, there is practically no end to skilled drivers in that field who would love to put a cap on Goulart’s winning streak.

Then in SMX we’ll watch a matchup between drivers who claimed the top two spots in Sebring. Matthew Novak, in the No. 11 Advanced Autosports Mazda MX-5, took first-place trophies twice in Florida, and Ethan Jacobs drove the No. 199 Jacobs Design Homes/JDH Racing car to second on both days. Certainly, Jacobs will want to change his fortune in Georgia, but so will Marcello Paniccia, in the No. 10 Mazda MX-5, and Logan Stretch driving the No. 98 Wheels America Racing car. Those two earned third place finishes at Sebring and will be looking to move a step or two higher on victory podiums this weekend.

Super Touring® Excitement

The fourth run group is where you’ll find Super Touring® Lite (STL) with 14 entrants, and Super Touring® Under (STU) with almost 10 drivers. Some say the STL races are up for grabs as far as who will win. Chuck Hines, in the No. 57 BigBoyRacing/Auto Business/Slim Chance Mazda Miata, and Mike Taylor driving the No. 39 JustTrackIt/E3 Storage/MS3 Pro AMP EFI Acura Integra will be ones to watch. Jon Sewell, in the No. 48 Acura Integra Type R, and Nick Leverone piloting the No. 37 Flatout Motorsports Mazda Miata may be in the hunt, too. So, that contest could be a Mazda vs. Acura faceoff.

Don’t sleep on the STU matchup between Jose Osiris Peña, in the No. 199 Mas Race Team Honda CRX, and David Fiorelli driving the No. 190 Ford Mustang. Peña, the reigning STL National Champion, managed a weekend sweep in STU at Sebring. Meanwhile, Fiorelli is the reigning STU Hoosier Super Tour Nationwide Points Champion and won an STU race last year during HST’s visit to Road Atlanta. James Slechta was the other STU winner last year, and he’s back again this weekend driving the No. 75 Alien Force Racing/NISMO/Z1 Motorsports Nissan 300ZX.

Hot Battles in Sixth Run Group

H Production (HP) and B-Spec are included within the sixth run group, and the fields there are shaping up to produce some really interesting matchups. With about a dozen entries, B-Spec always puts on a show, and you can never be certain who will win until the checkered flag unfurls. Of course, reigning HST B-Spec Nationwide Points Champion Stewart Black, in the No. 40 Bill Black Autosports Chevrolet Sonic, often finds himself in the lead pack. He claimed one B-Spec victory in January at Sebring and will be one to watch in Georgia.

Then there’s HP with nearly 15 entrants that include the best the class has to offer. Reigning HP Runoffs National Champion Jesse Prather is one of the favorites in the No. 34 JPM/Sunoco/Carbotech/Hoosier/Amsoil Mazda 2. So is Steve Sargis, in the No. 18 Carbotech Triumph Spitfire, who is the current HST Nationwide Points Champion for the class. Vesa Silegren, driving the No. 60 Hoosier/Carbotech/svtek.com/Gatecrest Honda CRX, won both HP races last year in Georgia and could very well be a factor this weekend, too.

A Few Others to Watch

It only takes two cars to make things interesting, so fantastic competition can emerge anytime and anywhere. But one other class to keep an eye on is GT-2 in the second run group. That 12-car field is where you’ll find current HST GT-2 Nationwide Points Champion Barry Boes in the No. 32 Accio Data Ford Mustang. He shared a GT-2 victory last year at Road Atlanta with Steven Lustig who is in the mix this weekend driving the No. 05 Autosport Group Racing Chevrolet Howe TA2 Camaro. Entered as well are Jared Odrick, in the No. 00 Cube3 Chevrolet TA2 Camaro, and Tony Ave wielding the No. 44 Ave Motorsports Nissan 350Z. Those two drivers swapped GT-2 victories recently during HST’s stop at Sebring.

Open-wheel fans will also find something intriguing to watch during the Formula Enterprises 2 contest contained within the fifth run group. A couple former Runoffs winners are sitting in that class, so the fight will be on to see who ends up on the victory podium and earns commemorative bottles of Mazza Vineyards sparkling wine.

Don’t Miss a Moment
