SCCA Looks to Expand Super Tour Video Coverage

The Hoosier Racing Tire Super Tour is the Sports Car Club of America’s premier road racing series, with drivers traversing the country in the hopes of clinching the coveted Hoosier Super Tour points championship. In 2022, the Hoosier Super Tour series traveled to Sebring International Raceway, Circuit of the Americas, Portland International Raceway, Watkins Glen International, Road America, and beyond, with 10 stops offering sprint racers the opportunity to battle for points in their hunt for a coveted yearend trophy. The problem was, unless you were on site, following along with each weekend’s action was relatively one dimensional. SCCA is looking to change that – and soon.

In 2022, as with recent seasons, audio from the weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour races was broadcast both locally and online for fans to enjoy. Also online were a handful of static video feeds from key corners at each circuit, with both the audio and video available via SCCA.com. This approach was meant to provide a similar experience of sitting on the hill watching a section of the race course at each Hoosier Super Tour weekend, but we know that experience can be elevated with different technology.

“When SCCA launched the current audio feed and static-camera video approach for Hoosier Super Tour weekends in 2017, it provided members a connection to the events – but our members want more, and we want to provide it,” explains Dan Dennehy-Rodriguez, SCCA’s Partner Relationship Manager. “This month, we’re taking the first steps to what will become a leap forward in bringing SCCA Road Racing into the homes and onto the phones of everyone who wants to enjoy the best amateur road racing in the U.S.”

The goal is to launch a live, online race broadcast that will dynamically follow the action from each Hoosier Super Tour weekend, blending thrilling audio commentary with gripping video that friends, family, and supporters can view at home, on the go, or even in the paddock at the event itself – and to do it starting with the 2023 Hoosier Super Tour season.

Those interested in bidding on this broadcast project should contact Dan Dennehy-Rodriguez at ddennehy@scca.com for technical and financial requirements.

Bid submissions need to be received by Dennehy-Rodriguez no later than July 29, 2022.
