TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 27, 2017) -- Registration is now open for the 2018 SCCA® National Convention taking place in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, January 18-20 at South Point Hotel and Casino. The cost is currently only $275 per attendee and grants access to more than 40 educational seminars, as well as the Annual Meeting and Welcome Party Thursday evening and Saturday’s SCCA Hall of Fame and Awards banquet. The cost to attend goes up beginning December 25 to $335 per person.
Leadership Summit seminars Friday and Saturday are designed to provide SCCA members with opportunities to further develop leadership skills, acquire specific SCCA training and network with others from the Club. The tentative schedule is available online and shows a wide range of topics to be addressed during sessions. A few featured topics this year include:
- Junior Karting: A panel presentation on the 2018 Solo Junior Driver Program, including an overview of the revised program and training to fulfill licensing requirements in the critical areas of course design, driver instruction, kart rules/inspection, and event operations.
- Critical Incident Management: A panel discussion outlining steps to be taken in the event of a critical incident during any type of SCCA activity. From defining a “critical” incident to appropriate public relations procedures, attendees will be better equipped to manage such situations.
- Leadership 101/201: Effective leaders build and maintain strong relationships, so the ability to build trust and credibility is crucial! In these sessions people will learn to evaluate their own credibility, and develop an action plan to build and maintain trusting relationships.
Mike Cobb, SCCA President and CEO, said, “As a Club, we are working to define our collective Regional, Divisional and National paths forward, and the annual National Convention is essential in aligning concepts with ‘real world’ actions. The convention is where useful tools are provided to better serve members, those who serve the members, and the Club overall.”
