Bob Tullius was caught napping during the 1970 Watkins Glen 6-hour race while co-driver Bruce Jennings piloted the Jennings Porsche 911. It’s no surprise Bob was tired; the pair won the Washington D.C. enduro the weekend before.
Outside of a car, Tullius is known for starting the legendary Group 44 Racing Team, setting the model for profitable racing teams. The team drew profit from building cars, maintaining customer cars, and selling sponsorships. This is the same basic model followed by modern racing teams.
With two SCCA Runoff Championships and four Runoffs Poles to his record, along with 13 Championships for Group 44 drivers, Tullius is a definitive legend of SCCA Club Racing. In 2015, he was inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame.
