McCance Wins Tire Rack ProSolo Challenge at McGee Park

FARMINGTON, N.M. (July 1, 2013) – Greg McCance, of Ramona, Calif., took home a victory in last weekend’s Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo® Super Challenge at McGee Park, in Farmington, N.M. Meredith Brown, of Los Alamos, N.M., also took home first-place hardware, winning the event’s Ladies Challenge.

McCance (E Street Prepared, Subaru WRX Sonic) advanced to the 32-car final bracket after navigating his car to the quickest qualifying time in the E Street Prepared class by a 1.36-second gap.

The weather on Saturday reached a high of 99 degrees under partly cloudy skies, while Sunday’s conditions were slightly better, with a high of 97 degrees and a strong wind from the east at 30 mph.

En route to the final eight, McCance succeeded in taking down this year’s El Toro ProSolo third-place finisher Morgan Trotter (Street Touring Compact, C2 Motorsports/TheRacersStore.com Honda Civic Si) in the first round. In round two, Jacob Dawson (Street Touring R, HVT/Firestone/HMBWTS Honda S2000) succumbed to McCance.

McCance continued to roll through the competition, taking the quarterfinal win over three-time Solo National champion Barbara LeRoy-Boehme (Road Tire 2WD, C2 Motorsports Mini Cooper).

In the semi-finals, McCance matched up against Gerry Terranova (Street Touring Sport, Texas Track Works/Motion Control Honda CRX Si) and took the win, earning his spot in the final.

Bob Endicott (Street Touring R, King Motorsports Honda S2000) was the finalist from the other side of the bracket. Endicott’s ticket to the finals was punched following a semi-final victory over class-competitor Rob Rockefeller (Street Touring R, Random1Racing.com Honda S2000).

In the final heads-up round, McCance downed Endicott for the win. Terranova took home bronze, scoring the third-place runoff win over Rockefeller.

Brown (Ladies Class 2, MidAtlantic Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette) started the weekend clicking off the best time in her qualifying class on Saturday. During Sunday’s eliminations, she took out Jamie Yost (Ladies Class 1, RiptideHosting.com/Ron Williams BMW 2002) to get to the finals where she defeated Kim Whitener (Ladies Class 3, Texas Track Works/Motion Control Honda CRX) for the win.

The Ladies Class 1 top-qualifier Katy Nicholls (Ford Mustang) beat out Yost for third in the third-place runoff.

In the Bonus Challenge bracket, Jake Wright (Race Tire Index 1, Dirt Honda CRX Si) drove to victory.

The Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo series will race three times in July with stops at the Arkansas Aeroplex, July 4-5, Hampton Mills, July 20-21, and the Toledo Express Airport, July 27-28.
