Contingencies Available For Tire Rack Solo Nationals

TOPEKA, Kan. (July 26, 2013) – Seventeen separate contingency programs are being offered for top finishes at The Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships, September 3-6, at the Lincoln (Neb.) Airpark.

The first contingency measures improvement across the event, and not just the highest finisher. GoPro, the official camera of SCCA, will reward one driver each in the Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, Prepared, Street Modified and Modified category a GoPro HERO3 camera as the GoPro Hero Moment Award winner. The driver in each category who improves the most positions from day one to day two will be declared the winner.

Solo competition is often decided in hundredths of a second, and much of that can be made up literally where the rubber meets the road. BFGoodrich Tires, the official street tire of SCCA, is giving every eligible National Champ four free tires, with a pair of tires going to a runner-up finish and one tire for third place. Both Hoosier Racing Tire and Kumho Tires are giving away product for finishes, with each offering four for a win and two for a runner-up. Kumho chips in an additional tire for third place, and doubles each prize in the Street Touring category. Hankook Tire and Toyo Tires award top finishes with cash on a $1,000-$750-$500 basis for Toyo, and $1,200-$800-$500 for Hankook. Both sponsors also contribute an additional $1,000 for a Solo Triad Award.

As valuable as the tires are, they’re of little worth without a good motor to power them – and seven automobile manufacturers are supporting Solo drivers.

Mazda, the official car of SCCA, is paying out a cool grand to National Champions. Runners-up will take home $500, and a third-place finish is good for $300. Honda Performance Development, MINI, Subaru and Volkswagen also offer prizes for top-three eligible finishes. MINI and Volkswagen pay $1,000, $500 and $250 for the top-three positions, with Subaru matching the win total and paying $750 and $500 for second and third. Taking home a top-three spot in a Honda will earn a driver $500, $300 and $100, respectively. Scion and Toyota drivers can score $1,000 for a win.

Users of Mobil 1 synthetic oil, the official motor oil of SCCA, can earn $100 cash and a $50 product credit if they win and meet the requirements. A runner-up finish nets $50 in product. All eligible class winners will also be entered into a random drawing to win one of two Mobil 1 10’x20’ E-Z Up instant shelters.

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine continues to offer a $100 prize to current subscribers who win and compete with the magazine’s decals on the car.

Race Technology USA is supporting competitors with their video and data acquisition packages. Race Technology USA offers significant discounts on select systems and accessories for top three finishers in all classes not currently using their system, and product certificates redeemable toward parts and upgrades for podium finishers already campaigning with a Race Technology system.

Enkei Wheels supports users of their Racing Series or Tuning Series wheels in the eligible classes with $300 for a win, $200 for second and $100 for third. The company will also award a set of wheels to the registered driver in those groups that set the top PAX time in the competition, whether using Enkei Wheels or not.

Early registration, and the entry fee price break associated with it, ends on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Event registration is available through MotorsportReg.com.
