Convention Just 24 Hours From Opening Day

Flights are being boarded and luggage is being tossed into the trunks of cars, as the SCCA Leadership and members are headed to Charlotte for the SCCA National Convention and the North American Motorsports Expo this weekend.

The SCCA Convention gets underway on Friday with the Annual Meeting and Town Hall, an enlightening talk from SCCA Member, solo competitor, and Southwest Airline’s Senior Manager, Customer Service Chris Robbins. Robbins will talk about customer service and how it relates to the SCCA and the Regions.

Following a “state of the Club” address from Lisa Noble, the Convention attendees will walk from the Charlotte Westin to the Charlotte Convention Center across the street for the ribbon cutting and official opening of the MSX trade show.

Saturday at the Convention features a full slate of seminars, including the Club Racing and Solo town halls with their respective competition boards.

The highlight comes on Saturday evening, when Kathy Barnes, Bob Bondurant, Dan Gurney, Dr. Bob Hubbard and Jim Downing and Pete Hylton are inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame.

Sunday at the Convention features another series of seminars and informative sessions for attendees.

Meanwhile, the MSX Show opens for attendees on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Admission to the show floor on both Saturday and Sunday is free for SCCA members in attendance.

A series of seminars and speakers geared to competitors are a part of the MSX action. A full schedule is available at www.MSXExpo.com, but is highlighted by keynote speakers Randy Pobst and Andy Pilgrim. Cost for the speaker series is $95 for SCCA members, with registration available online or at the gate.
