Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge Charges into 2025, And You Can Too

If you’re an SCCA® Time Trials insider (i.e.: you follow the Time Trials page on Facebook), some of what we’re about to announce might seem like old news, as we kinda sorta leaked some info not too long ago. While we revealed most of the 2025 event schedule, what WASN’T mentioned was that SCCA’s National Time Trials program is getting completely rebooted and debuting in 2025 as the brand-new Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge.

The Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge is a nationwide series that sees drivers chase personal bests and battle each other to set their fastest lap time around some of the best racetracks in the nation. This is straight-up, unbridled, and unapologetic Time Attack competition. You go fast, you win – simple as that.

Each competition weekend, drivers will be given a practice session and multiple timed opportunities to click off their fastest lap time. The quickest lap time from the first day adds to their top time from the second, and the weekend’s overall scoreboard then determines each class winner.

Speaking of Time Attack Challenge classes, competition rules resemble those from the previous Time Trials National Tour (which, for those keeping track, has been superseded by this). Rules aren’t identical, however, as a couple tweaks to 2025 classing is expected, specifically around Tuner and Max, so you’ll want to read up on the rules before the season begins.

Speaking of the coming season…

Upping the Ante with a Points Championship

There’s another element to the Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge that raises the bar, and that’s the points series. To be clear, you needn’t contend for a points title in the Time Attack Challenge – but if you’re looking for a way to up the ante, this is it.

Points for the Time Attack Challenge will be earned using the best finishes at any two of the season’s seven Time Attack Challenge events, with bonus points given for track records. The third point-earning opportunity happens when the National Time Trials season culminates at the three-day Time Trials Nationals, held in 2025 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) in September. There, drivers will have an opportunity to earn one more set of points, with even more bonus points given for lap records.

It’s Your Adventure

From competing in a one-off weekend to contending for a season-long point title, the Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge offers something for everyone. Some will seek the thrill of a single weekend, while others will push their stamina by pursuing a season-long win through the point series.

Whichever adventure you choose, if unadulterated on-track timed lapping is what you crave, it’s time you charge into the 2025 Tire Rack Time Attack Challenge.
