2025 Bonus Majors Races Announced for FV, FF, and F600

Following the announcement revealing changes to the 2025 Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour run groups, the Sports Car Club of America has announced five “Bonus Majors” events for the Formula Vee®, Formula F, and Formula 600 classes, with a possible sixth event to come, to ensure drivers in those classes can compete at many of their favorite racetracks within the U.S. Majors Tour®.

“We are excited to confirm the dates of the Regional race weekends that will host the small formula car run group ‘Bonus Majors’ races,” said Jeff Barrow, SCCA Director of Road Racing. “As we progress in the transitional phase of Majors classes and run group changes for 2025 and beyond, it was evident that the highly-subscribed Hoosier Super Tour weekends could not accommodate the same classes without the loss of track time for all.”

The FV, FF, and F600 classes are uniquely compatible with one another to form a run group, but not compatible with the makeup of other run groups within SCCA Road Racing competition. For Hoosier Super Tours, the small formula car run group averaged 13 fewer cars than the next smallest run group.

“Open-wheel racing continues to be an important part of the SCCA racing program,” Barrow added. “They are part of its heritage and continue to provide unique, cost-effective opportunities for our members to go racing at hundreds of events across the country. But, for this series of events that averaged over 250 cars per weekend in 2024, something needed to change within the schedule in order to support operations that provide participants with the experience they’ve come to expect.”

As an alternative for Hoosier Super Tour weekends at Sebring International Raceway, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, VIRginia International Raceway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Watkins Glen International, SCCA has worked with its Regions to host Bonus U.S. Majors Tour races as part of the following Regional race weekends at those same tracks. The FF, FV, and F600 run group will have two races on each weekend that count toward Conference Majors championship points and accumulate participation just as any other Conference Majors event would.

Barrow added that NOLA and Hallett do not have Regional event opportunities to host “Bonus” Majors races. Additionally, SCCA’s Chicago Region is still determining the format for the 2025 WeatherTech June Sprints® Hoosier Super Tour weekend. If Chicago Region chooses the traditional Hoosier Super Tour format of two races per class (thus removing the small formula car run group), a Bonus Majors weekend opportunity will be available later in the season at Road America.
