The Sports Car Club of America® hosts thousands of events each year, welcoming enthusiasts from all walks of life to have #funwithcars. But be it Time Trials, Solo, RallyCross, Road Racing, RoadRally, or more, SCCA couldn’t make it happen without two groups of people: volunteers and partners. The volunteers: You dedicate your time, effort, and expertise, and we’re extremely thankful that you’re here. As for the Club’s partners: These companies put their money on the line to help fund amazing motorsports experiences. One such company – namely Hagerty – has just concluded its sixth year as the official insurance partner of the SCCA, but it’s important to note that Hagerty’s connection to the SCCA extends well beyond sponsorship banners.
Hagerty is officially connected to the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials National Tour and Time Trials Nationals, as those are both “powered by Hagerty.” But what does that mean? For one, the awesome backyard barbecue and beverages enjoyed by all participants at these events come courtesy of Hagerty. That’s not to say there wouldn’t be a rockin’ welcome party at National Time Trials events without Hagerty, we’re just saying there’d likely be way more gristle without ‘em.
Yet that’s only the beginning.
Keepin’ it Cool
Hagerty presented the Keepin’ it Cool Award at four 2024 SCCA championship events. The Hagerty Keepin’ it Cool Award at the 2024 Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Championships went to Morgan Lee of Sydney, Australia, for his bringing shoey fun to several podium celebrations. At the SCCA National Championship Runoffs®, the Keepin’ it Cool Award went to second-place Spec Racer® Ford Gen3 finisher David Ogburn for driving to a podium finish in one of SCCA’s most difficult road racing classes despite taking car damage early in the race.
At the 2024 RallyCross Nationals, the Hagerty Keepin’ It Cool Award was presented to Mark Macoubrie, who won the Modified All Wheel Drive class by a scant 0.347sec over Warren Elliot after three days and 11 cumulatively scored competition runs, by far the tightest. At Time Trials Nationals, 17-year-old high school student Nate Kindlon won the Keepin’ it Cool Award after blowing up his normal Time Trials car mid-year and making a late change to a different car with homemade aero parts.
Whether it’s from overcoming adversity, tight competition, or just bringing extra fun to an event, recipients of the Hagerty Keepin’ it Cool Award take home a large YETI cooler as their prize.
On-Track Excitement
When it comes to the Runoffs, Hagerty also presents the three days of racing. For SCCA’s 60th anniversary Runoffs, that meant all 26 races taking place Oct. 4-6, 2024, were presented in part thanks to Hagerty, allowing for not only amazing in-person viewing of incredible on-track action at Road America, but also enabling thousands of fans to keep up with the action live from home on SCCA’s YouTube channel.
Hagerty also presented the Runoffs worker lunch break on Saturday, Oct. 5.
It’s Your Turn
Watching others race is fine, but if you want to get on track yourself, Hagerty offers deals you can’t afford to skip. SCCA members receive a 30% discount on Track Night in America® and Time Trials policies. SCCA members also receive a 5% discount (not available in CA, TN, MA) on Hagerty off-track insurance programs to protect their investments, including collector cars, motorcycles, race cars, and boats. When it comes to race cars, Hagerty offers insurance to cover vehicles off the track, in storage, in the paddock, at a shop, and during transport to the track.
Find out more about these deals by logging in to your SCCA account via this link and clicking the link under “Insurance.” Then visit Hagerty.com to discover more about the company’s offerings.
