After nearly 70 years of existence as an SCCA® Road Racing class, the H Production community is forming its very own Hall of Fame to commemorate drivers, crew, fabricators, and volunteers that were heavily involved with the class over its history.
Spearheaded by the H Production Nationwide Points Championship, the H Production Hall of Fame will induct up to three new members each year, with the inaugural class being in 2024. Nominations will be accepted during a two-week window following the Runoffs each year, with voting taking place the entire month of November. Any past or present SCCA member is eligible to vote for up to three of the nominees each year. A five-person selection committee comprised of past and present HP racers, from the northeast to the southwest, will review the top five vote receivers and will select up to three individuals to induct each year.
Although the nomination window for 2024 is closed, future nominations can be sent to hproduction.npc@gmail.com – all that’s required is the nominee’s name and a few paragraphs about their history and contribution to the class.
Electees will be notified in early December, with a public announcement coming before the end of the year.
The H Production induction ceremony will be held during the H Production Nationwide Points Championship’s marquee event, the Captn Mikee Cummings H Production Invitational, held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course every summer. The invitational gives a real "mid-season Runoffs" feel, with a dedicated run group just for HP, a 20-lap feature race with a victory lap, group dinner parties, and in the first three years of its existence, over 30 HP cars were entered, making it the largest non-Runoffs event for the H Production class.
Several companies sponsor the event, including Ignition Speed Shop, RaceKeeper, Goodyear Racing, Hoosier Racing Tires, Midwest Motorsports, the Indy Racing Experience, and more. But the real special part of the invitational weekend is the coming together of the H Production family.
At the event, there is an eclectic mix of Runoffs champions, perennial National contenders, local Regional racers, SCCA novices, and even retired HP racers, plus pictures, videos, and stories are shared throughout the weekend. It truly is a one-of-a-kind grassroots event that pays homage to the glory years while celebrating today’s racers, and is a must-see event for anyone who loves the H Production class.
The H Production Hall of Fame committee thought there was no better place to induct the new members than the Captn Mikee Cummings H Production Invitational.
Voting for the inaugural SCCA H Production Hall of Fame will close on Nov. 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
