The Sports Car Club of America is deeply saddened to confirm the death of member James Belay, who passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024, during an SCCA Road Racing event at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomingdale, GA.
Belay, a 40-year SCCA member from Mableton, GA, succumbed to injuries following a single-car incident in his Formula Continental Van Diemen. He was 67 years old.
“Our deepest condolences and sympathy go out to Jim’s wife Carol, their family, and friends,” said SCCA President and CEO Mike Cobb. “It's never easy to say goodbye to a member of the SCCA family. We are thankful for the strength of the SCCA community that banded together to support each other during this tragic situation."
