To be honest, when we were told that the theme for the Sept. 3-6, 2024, Solo National Championships was “Welcome to the Wild Wild West,” that first paragraph wrote itself. Then SCCA’s Solo department said that intro wasn’t what they had in mind. Hold your horses, they exclaimed, and they nixed the whole darn tootin’ thing. But, as you can see, that ‘twa’n’t gonna happen.
Let me tell you, my handsome heifers, that the Solo National Championships is the Wild West (without the dysentery). There’ll be more than 1,000 autocrossers showing up at Nebraska’s Lincoln Airpark for a good time. There’ll be the big guns (past Solo National Champs and trophy finishers) wandering the prairie (airfield), horses (cars) will be fed (fueled/charged), and shootouts will be had (which we measure to a thousandth of a second). Solo Nats is the whole kit and caboodle.
To quote Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" – oh wait, they said we couldn’t do that either, so we won’t. But what we will do is remind you of the upcoming registration dates for the Sept. 3-6, 2024, Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships:
Tier 1 Registration – June 11, 2024, 3 p.m. CT
Between June 11 and July 31, event registration is $224, with a $50 cancellation fee. Tier 1 registration is the first group who can sign up for the Solo Nats, with Tier 1 consisting of 2023 National Champions, 2024 event chiefs, and those in the 100 Percenters club (this is a group of members who have competed in all 50 Solo Nationals held).
Test n Tune Registration – June 11, 2024, 5 p.m. CT
This is when registration opens for the on-site Test n Tune. Each Test n Tune time slot comes in one-hour increments, with the slot beginning at the top of the hour.
Tier 2 Registration – June 18, 2024, 3 p.m. CT
Autocrossers belong in Tier 2 if they finished on the podium at last year’s Solo Nats (that’s the top three – not all trophy winners qualify), were winners in supplemental or undersubscribed classes and didn’t officially win a National Championship, or are members of the Silver Circle with 25 or more Solo Nationals under their belts.
Open Registration – June 25, 2024, 3 p.m. CT
If you don’t qualify for Tier 1 or Tier 2, open registration is for you.
Registration Fee Increase – July 31, 2024, 12:01 a.m. CT
General registration for the Solo Nats is $224, but on this date, that fee increases to $325. This date also marks when the cancellation fee for those who registered prior to July 31 becomes $100. Refunds are not available for those who register for the Solo Nats on or after July 31.
Online Registration Closes – Aug. 26, 2024, 3 p.m. CT
This deadline comes one week before drivers will be loading into Lincoln Airpark.
Last Day for Refunds – Aug. 30, 2024, 7 p.m. CT
For those who registered prior to July 31, this is the final day to cancel and receive a refund (less the $100 cancellation fee).
