Can you believe it? It was Feb. 26, 1944 – 79 years ago – when seven sports car enthusiasts met at the Boston, MA, home of Chapin Wallour to form a club dedicated to the preservation of sports cars. That small gathering started the Sports Car Club of America, an organization that has gone on to change the face of motorsports for enthusiasts in the United States.
The Club’s original constitution stated membership would be restricted to owners of sports cars. Back then, aspiring colleagues had to be sponsored by a current member, seconded by another, and approved by unanimous vote of officers for inclusion. Today, SCCA is very, very different.
In 2023, anyone across the country can join SCCA and have #funwithcars by taking part in a multitude of motorsport activities. There’s wheel-to-wheel road racing, of course, but also marshaling and event organization that puts anyone close to the action. Beyond that exists RoadRally, Solo, Track Night in America, HillClimb, Time Trials, RallyCross, and Enduro events that offer everyone the chance to get off the sidelines and into the action.

There are 115 SCCA Regions across North America having #funwithcars on any given weekend. So, celebrate the weekend – and make the most of your membership – by exploring your local SCCA activities.
Can’t get to your local SCCA event? You can still enjoy SCCA action a few ways this weekend. For starters, there's the Tire Rack SCCA South Texas ProSolo at Naval Air Station Chase Field in Beeville, TX, taking place Feb. 24-26. Event info can be found here, and you can follow along live during the event via the live timing feed by clicking this big red button:
There's also top-rung SCCA Road Racing action that can be viewed online from anywhere thanks to the new and immensely popular Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour (HST) enhanced video and audio coverage. The HST is in California this weekend, Feb. 24-26, at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Motorsport commentators Gregg Ginsberg and Brian Bielanski will be calling the play-by-play action, and DriversEye Live will broadcast the event with up to 12 cameras – plus in-car video where possible.
Finding the live broadcast from Buttonwillow is simple. Coverage is streamed online via the SCCA Official YouTube channel and SCCA Inc. Facebook page. Post-race video interviews with some winners from Saturday, and Sunday victory podium celebration videos, can also be viewed at the SCCA Road Racing Facebook page.
