SCCA Regions forced to defer growth opportunities for financial reasons now have an exciting opportunity to fill in one piece of that puzzle thanks to the SCCA Foundation. Kicking off immediately, the SCCA Foundation is set to award grants with the goal of eliminating a significant burden for Regions that need to make an investment in a program in order to flourish.
“The SCCA Foundation Region Development Grant will give Regions the opportunity to grow and evolve their programs, member experience, and equipment,” explains Abby Scher, SCCA’s Region Communication, Training, and Events Manager. “Many Regions are working to create positive changes in their programs, and this type of support will help them to the finish line.”
The SCCA Foundation has outlined eligibility criteria for the Region Development Grants. First, the Region’s program should fit one of the following overarching themes:
- The project should add value to the Region and Club activities or represent a new approach that could serve not only the grant-receiving Region but could serve as a pilot program for other Regions.
- Grant money should go to a new Region program or event experience, like the start of a local RallyCross program or a worker training or recruitment program.
- It should assist in hardship from loss, such as damaged equipment that is important to Region activities.
Applications must include a detailed project management plan, with goals and objectives, timelines, overall budget, the schedule, and the people involved all being included. In short, these grants are for SCCA Regions that have done their homework but require a financial assist to make it all happen.
“The Foundation is pleased to announce this new grant program, made possible by the generous donations of so many members,” says Jeff Jacobs, Chair of the SCCA Foundation. “The Foundation’s core mission is to support SCCA programs, and these grants will help Regions in times of need and to grow their service to members.”
Grants will be awarded quarterly – the first application deadline arrives on Aug. 31, with those grants being issued by Oct. 31. There are more details and requirements, and for that, SCCA Region leaders are encouraged to check out this link.
