Saturday Courses
The past couple of years at NBC the course on the North end of the site was run first. However, as we found it tends to be harder to run in the wet with there being more elevation changes. With that, it has been determined that for 2018 we will set up both the North and South course. Once both are setup and the forecast has been looked over (the best it can be for Iowa) then a decision will be made about if the North or South course will be run first on Saturday. This decision will be made prior to the courses being open to walking. Please make sure you have the SCCA RallyCross app and keep an eye on Facebook for more information about the courses.

Sept. 26 Update
Paddock Map
The layout for the paddock area has been set for the event. A few notes about the layout. Tech will be to the north of the paddock area. Event Check-in, Welcome party, Town Hall and awards presentation will all be in the event building (bigger of the two buildings). When you arrive on site please be mindful of others and only use enough area that you need. You can view the paddock map here: https://www.scca.com/downloads/42403-8-rx-nationals-paddock-map
Practice Course
The hosting region (Dew Moines Valley Region) will be holding a test n tune on Friday from 1-4:30 pm. It will be located on the far west side of the competition area. It is a pay per run style test n tune. The prices are one run for $4 or three runs for $10. You can purchase as many tickets as you would like but must use them prior to the course closing at 4:30 pm.
Event Check-in and Tech
In the past we have had a few folks not Check-in or go through tech inspection. Everyone that registers online does need to come Check-in and go through technical inspection. It’s how we know you have made it to Indianola and are going to compete. It is also how we verify your car, class and work assignment. Check-in and Tech times are from 12:30pm until 4:30pm on Friday (October 12). Check-In will be located at the Event building right next to paddock. Tech inspection will be at the far north end of paddock.
Mobile App
For anyone that competed at one of the DirtFish National events in 2017 is already aware of the RallyCross app for Android and Apple devices. Just like in 2017 this year’s National Championship will be using the app as our means to notify competitors. While the announcer will still announce any course changes and a map will be at the start line to show changes, a push notification will be sent out for all course changes as well. Other valuable information about the event will be sent out via the app as well. You can download the app by searching for “SCCA RallyCross” in your app store.
Car Numbering
Anyone with two drivers in the car needs to have one of the drivers have a two-digit number. The second driver of that car needs to have the 100 of that corresponding number. For example, if the first driver is 98 then the second driver must be 198. This designates for Grid and timing that there are two drivers in that car. Anyone that is a single driver can have any number from 01-99 and 201-999. The one hundred numbers are reserved for two drivers only. If you need to change your number to be compliant please let us know and we will be glad to change it.
Door Prizes
We are happy to announce that this year we will have several door prizes to give away at both the town hall and the awards presentation. Some of the prizes include tire pressure gauge, gift certificate, EZ-UP, 2019 Nationals entry and more. Every competitor that checks in is automatically entered into both drawings. However, the name called must be present at the time of their name being called. If they are not within the area, then a new name will be drawn.
Sept. 19 UPDATE
Site Restrictions
We are back at the beautiful National Balloon Classic in Indianola, IA this year. That means there are a few site restrictions that MUST be followed. Anyone found not following any of the restrictions will be asked to leave the site.
- Per the Smoke-Free Air Act, Iowa Code chapter 142D Smoking is NOT allowed on site. This includes but not limited to smoking, vaping and e-cigarettes
- No Pets are allowed on site – A service dog is allowed
- No weapons allowed on site
Camping on Site
Camping will be allowed on site in paddock free of charge. However, there will be no electrical or waste hookups.
Entry Total/Schedule
The RallyCross Board (RXB) and the National Office have determined that a cap increase of 5 entrants is within the means of operations. That means the cap is now at 130 entrants. With that, discussions about a schedule change to help with runs on both Saturday and Sunday. Please note that Saturday will start earlier than in past Nationals. However, to allow for setting up the Sunday course while there is light along with giving competitors time to look at the course the Sunday start time will be 30 minutes later than in the past.
the full schedule can be found here - https://www.scca.com/downloads/41588-2018-dirt-fish-scca-rx-nationals-event-schedule
Job Descriptions
With help from the RallyCross Nationals Committee a list of job descriptions has been created and posted on the event page. Please make sure to look it over so there is an understanding of the duties of each job. You will be given your work assignment when you check-in for the event on site. You can find the job descriptions here - https://www.scca.com/downloads/42340-2018-rally-cross-events-job-descriptions

Speaking of job descriptions, we are looking for one more person to be a writer for SportsCar. We will need the person to either write about Prepared or Modified. If you are interested, please email Brian Harmer (bharmer@scca.com).
