TOPEKA, Kan. (Jan. 6, 2017) -- While much of the country buckles down for wintery weather, the Florida Region of the Sports Car Club of America® is revving up the racing season this weekend, Jan. 6-8, with the first U.S. Majors Tour® event of the year at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The Palm Tree Winter Majors opens the sixth year of U.S. Majors Tour competition. Around 270 entries are expected, including a massive Spec Miata field numbering almost 60 cars. Across the 28 classes, the names of several SCCA National Championship Runoffs® winners can be found on the entry list along with a bunch of top-flight competitors.
As has become tradition, Homestead-Miami Speedway represents the first half of a January doubleheader in Florida, with the start of the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour season next weekend at Sebring International Raceway. And of course, all these drivers are looking to log races in preparation for the 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs taking place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in late September.
Race Monitor is where fans can follow all the action from the more than 30 U.S. Majors Tour race weekends planned this year.
