Register for the Blytheville Pro!
We have found memories of past SCCA Tire Rack Blytheville Solo Championship Tour events. Steamy days, hot concrete tarmacs and big, world class autocross courses. Great competition from all the best Solo drivers coming from near and far. But that came to an end for a while and we’ve missed it.
Now Blytheville is back in Pro Solo format and it’s drawing in all the best Pro Solo drivers for their last shot at points before the Finale. But it will bring in some that have not yet competed in Pro Solo (like your humble writer)? Will the newbies enjoy the drag starts and mirror image courses? Will they get the adrenaline spike from back-to-back runs that they have heard so much about? Find them in grid or paddock, ask them how it’s going and help them out of their car after their runs are done (they’re going to need it)!
For those of you who haven’t been to Blytheville; here’s what you can expect. Acres and acres of concrete tarmac on what was once a SAC airbase. Where B-52s used to rumble, now it’s Corvettes, Miatas, MINIs and Porsches. Two SCCA Regions combine efforts and put on great events with true southern hospitality. After the event expect to find good company at El Puerto Mexican and Olympia Steak & Seafood restaurants.
The 2015 Blytheville Pro Solo was initially set for early March but bad weather forced a re-scheduled early May event with much better conditions. The larger classes such as CS, STS and STR had final trophy results with very slim margins; tenths or even thousandths. Bump Class 1 captured the low participation street tire classes and a much larger Bump Class 4 absorbed competitors in Street Prepared, Modified, CAM, etc. Two Ladies classes and a Race Tire class rounded out the 2015 Bump Classes but how that lines out this season will only be known when registration closes.
It’s time for hot summer Pro Solo action deep in central Arkansas so bolt on your sticky tires, dial-in your dual adjustable shocks and stock up on Gatorade. For Pro Soloists in the hunt - your last chance for points before the Finale. For first timers wanting a new thrill - the 2016 Blytheville Pro Solo will not disappoint!
