June 10th and 11th mark the third Match Tour event of the season when latest addition to the Tire Rack SCCA National Solo Series heads to Heartland Park Topeka.

Heartland Park is home to a 900' x 1000' pad that is one the largest asphalt pads with no obstructions in the US and some will have fond memories as several years ago (2008), the SCCA Solo Nationals were held on this facility. The wide-open space allows course designers the ability to expose competitors to some of the types of course elements that could be seen at the Solo Nationals in Lincoln, NE.

The Kansas and Kansas City Region folks will tell you how much fun this place is to autocross and invite you to the welcoming environs of Kansas... isn't this where Dorothy wanted to get back to? The 2016 Tire Rack Heartland Showdown will be one to remember. The competition will be great, the course will be great, and as important as any, the comradery will be great.

The Match Tour is triple the fun with three events in one package. The event is broken into four sessions. Session 1 and 2 are on Saturday. Each consists of a traditional 3 run autocross with the best run from each session added together to determine class rankings (basically a mini Champ Tour). Session 3 is another three runs to determine the qualifiers for the Super and Club Shootouts. The top 8 on index per heat qualify for the Super and 9-16 on index per heat qualify for the Club Shootout. Everyone else is eligible for the drawing to be in the Bonus Shootout. Session 4 is the Shootouts. Any way you look, that’s a lot of racing.

If you can get away from the Racing, or want to come early or stay late, Topeka really has a ton of stuff to entertain you including a New, Just opening this summer Evel Knievel Museum. Not sure of the Opening date but they tell me it’s going to be early to mid-summer.
