The Washington DC Region, Sports Car Club of America Solo program has always been trying to get kids involved, with a strong junior karting program that gets kids starting at the age of 5 learning to drive and competing in go-karts. For 2015, we would like to take it up a notch by implementing a great way for newly-licensed teens to practice advanced driving techniques on a regular basis. This is a one-time opportunity for young drivers to get their "feet wet" in SCCA Solo for a great price. For those unfamiliar with SCCA Solo, here’s how it works:

Also known as "autocrossing", Solo events are held on large, wide open parking lots found at air bases and stadiums. There, drivers compete in anything from their daily driver to highly developed race cars against the clock, navigating through a cone course as quickly as possible. Autocrossing’s low-risk and low-cost, in combination with great excitement and adrenaline, attracts anybody from ages 8 to 80 to DC Region Solo events at FedEx Field on a given Sunday.

The Washington DC Region realizes how important the safety of new drivers on the road is, and therefore is offering teens an incredible deal that will provide comfort and confidence in their own cars when it comes to driving on the street. New drivers that are of 18 years of age or younger will receive a season subscription to all of our Washington DC Region SCCA Solo competition events in 2015 for FREE if they take our WDCR Solo Level 1 School at any point during the season, and become an SCCA member. This could be a savings of up to $240, and allows teens to regularly work on car-control skills that could possibly lead to avoiding an accident on the street in emergency situations.

All student driver participants must have a minor waiver filled out and have a parent present at all events if they are under the age of 18.
