The 2015 Tire Rack SCCA College Station Championship Tour begins the first of two trips for the National Solo scene to the "Lone Star State" of Texas this year. The event will be held April 10-12 at the very popular Texas A&M University Annex site. Known to be one of if not the premier surface for Autocross outside of Lincoln, this site is always popular with the locals as well as travelers and the competition will be big and fast! Later in June the Pro Solo Series will travel back to Texas to complete this Texas Two Step.
Keeping with the "Bigger in Texas" theme, we expect the courses to once again be long and exciting. Here is a view of the courses from last year from the vantage point of G-Street Class Winner Brad McCann.
The College Station surface not only provides a great opportunity to prepare for Nationals, but also will present some interesting challenges with subtle nooks and crannies. The drivers that can best adapt to the personality of the surface and distance of the courses typically prevail.

While in College Station, take a short drive over to Texas World Speedway and not only see one of SCCA’s most storied venues in Texas, but also make a memory like Leilanie and Jerrett Jan did earlier this year (pictured above) as this track is set to close after the season to make way for a commercial development project. The track has seen winners such as Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip in NASCAR, A.J. Foyt and Al Unser in USAC, and Bruce McLaren in the coveted SCCA Can-Am Series.
Parties are not allowed at the facility, however that won’t keep you from having a great time on Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. College Station is home to Texas A&M University and provides plenty of great spots to kick back and have fun as well as tremendous food choices from the Lone Star State. Hey, if it’s good enough for this guy to have fun in College Station, there should be plenty of fun to be had by all.
