The 2015 Tire Rack SCCA San Diego Championship Tour is the first of a one-two punch of exquisite racing in beautiful Southern California. The SD Tour, March 20-22, will feature of field of 40 classes competing on the challenging, bumpy, elevation changing surface at Qualcomm Stadium. Qualcomm, famous for hosting the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, provides a real test of suspension for cars, and will play a factor in course design and execution.
As of March 1, a quarter of the classes feature five or more entries, allowing champions to win contingency and offering runner-ups the opportunity to earn more!
While you’re in San Diego, why not check out the city? With 70 miles of sand and sea stretching from Oceanside at the north to the Mexican border at the south, San Diego has more than 33 beaches each with distinct features and personalities. Not a beach person? No problem. Check out the World Famous San Diego Zoo—just a go-cart’s ride away—or the iconic Gaslamp district at the heart of the city’s nightlife offering unparalleled dining, shopping, and cultural attractions.
The best part, of course, is the gentle Mediterranean climate that will have you wishing you lived in San Diego year-round. With an average daily temperature of 70 degrees, you’ll want to attend the Tour to leave the rest of the snowy nation behind in your rearview mirror.
San Diego is the first west coast event of the season. For those who want an extended vacation, stay in SoCal another week and attend the 2015 El Toro ProSolo in Irvine from March 27-29.
