Lee Chhit, of Huntsville, Alabama, did a good job of summing up what winning the Solo Triad Award meant to him.

"I am honored to win the Solo Triad," Chhit said. "It really caps off a great year for me. One Championship Tour class win (Dixie), four ProSolo class wins (Blytheville, Mineral Wells, Toledo and Wilmington), two Match Tour class wins (Wilmington and Atlanta) and taking the class win at the 2014 Tire Rack National Championships as a rookie. It has been an awesome year."

Chhit started his 2014 Tire Rack National Solo season with a Street Touring FWD class win at the Dixie Championship Tour. He then went to the Wilmington Match Tour and took victory over his co-driver Daniel Chhit by 0.896-second. Chhit completed his quest for the award with a National Championship title, in Lincoln, with a 0.243-second margin of victory.

With all the accolades and successes during the season, Chhit did have one stand-out memory.

"At the Wilmington Match Tour, my brother and I competed in STF and Laura Campbell (2014 STRL National Champion) competed in STFL," Chhit said. "All three of us qualified for the Super Challenge. My brother and I were knocked out in the first round. But, Laura raced her way to the final round of the Super Challenge and won. I was ecstatic."

Another memorable moment, which also proved to be a bit of a challenge, happened at the National Championship. Stories of selfless acts, like this one, are commonplace but never get old.

"Joe Austin’s Mini Cooper broke during the Pro Solo Finale," Chhit said. "I had an open seat, so I offered him a co-drive for Nationals. We had different brand tires on our Minis, thus we had to change all four tires after every run. We barely had enough time to change tires in between our runs."

But both drivers were able to make it happen and be a part of the largest motorsports competition in the world. Chhit had some important people to thank, without whom this season would not be possible.

"First and foremost, I have to thank my mom and dad," Chhit said. "Without them, I would not be here. Thank you to my brother, Daniel Chhit, for the years he let me autocross his STX Mazdaspeed3.

"Last, but not least, I would like to thank my friends - Laura Campbell (I couldn’t have done it without you), Brandon and Cheryl Davis, Tom and Cathy Hill, Ed and Teresa Fisher and Mike Cavanaugh. Thank you all for your help and support. You guys are the best!"
