With Solo Nationals being just a few short weeks ago, SoloMatters wants to take this opportunity to spotlight the people behind the two giant courses we'll all be competing on this year. Hailing form the Washington DC Region, Lee Piccione is no stranger to creating courses for large events. He started designing courses in 1996 at the Camden Yards (Orioles Stadium) parking lots. Since then, Lee does about 15 courses a year. His past National resume includes over 20 Pro Solo courses, several National Tours, several divisional courses. Additionally, he has been a member of the SCCA Course Approval Panel since it's inception. Lee's most recent (National) creative work was the DC Pro Solo course:
Lee has previously done a Nationals course at Topeka back in 2004. As with many people who have done Nationals courses at other venues, Lee wanted to do another and with the move to Lincoln he figured now was the time./p>
When asked about the courses this year, Lee said, "I want my courses to flow well and contain a fair amount of speed maintenance so car placement will be a bit more important than how well a car can accelerate or stop. I like to put in a visual or two that you don't see very often, or maybe one you've never seen! There's usually a hidden 'gothcha' in there somewhere, you just have to figure out where it is!" Sounds like Lee's course will require not only solid execution, but really being on top of car placement, watching out for areas that might catch you off balance.

Lee normally drives in B Street Prepared, so look for his techno-violet M3 in grid if you would like to protest / show your support of his course!
