Tacos and Talent- The 2014 SCCA Tire Rack Solo Nationals Welcome Party presented by Grassroots Motorsports and the City of Lincoln

It's no "Taco Tuesday", but Monday at Nationals will be "awesome"!

Join us, Monday evening at the Concrete Beach Pavilion for the 2014 SCCA Solo Nationals Tacos and Talent Welcome Party. Keeping with the traditions of an end of summer bash, there will be hot grills, cold beverages and stage set to show of the best, brightest and bravest talents available in the Nationals paddock. The party will take place on site, and is expected to kick off around 6pm.

Show up hungry. The menu for this years welcome party will consist of Carne Asada and chicken tacos, chips, salsa and fixin's, courtesy of the City of Lincoln. There will also be beverages, brewed and soft and commemorative coozies to keep them cool!

As part of the party, Grassroots Motorsports is proud to partner with the SCCA to bring back the beloved the competitor talent show. This year the show takes on a festive, friendly atmosphere as part of the on-site, opening-night festivities on Monday Sept 1st at Lincoln Airpark.

"Ideally, we’d like this to have a communal, open-mic-night feel to it," said Grassroots Motorsports Art Director JG Pasterjak, who will emcee the show. "One of the great things about the Solo community is their support for each other on course. This is a chance for them to support each other onstage, while they reveal some abilities their friends maybe never knew that had. We want to give the show an accessible feel, even for someone who’s never been on stage before. We'll do whatever we can to make it a supportive environment, although 'liquid courage' acts will be discouraged."

In addition to reviving the show, Grassroots Motorsports is also offering a special deal to all Solo Nats participants: Subscribe or renew your existing subscription and get 20% off your regular rate. Just visit grassrootsmotorsports.com/subscribe (new subscribers) or grassrootsmotorsports.com/renew (renewals) and enter the discount code SOLONATS to claim your savings.

Competitors interested in participating in the talent show should contact JG at jg@grassrootsmotorsports.com. All disciplines are welcome—music, comedy, slam poetry, sword swallowing, feats of strength, magic, displays of the combat arts, or whatever the community would like to display. It is requested that acts hold their content to a PG level. Basic tech will be provided; set length will be a function of number of participants. Based on interest, slots may or may not be available onsite, so it’s best to make contact in advance.
