WOW! Where has the summer gone! Sixteen days from now, SCCA Solo competitors will begin to descend on Lincoln, Nebraska for the Pro Solo Finale and the 2014 Tire Rack Solo National Championships! If you have not heard by now, Brad and Jennifer Maxcy, the 2013 and 2014 Chairmen for the National Championships, will not be able to attend the event this year. We, Raleigh and Velma Boreen, will be the chairmen for the 2014 event. Most things are already in place and we will try to “Hang 10” on the waves at the Concrete Beach! We are excited about some of the changes that are happening for 2014.

The Monday night Welcome Party, hosted by the city of Lincoln and Grassroots Motorsports, will be on the site and promises to be a great evening. Food and entertainment will be provided for the Welcome Party. Speedway Motors is supplying some cars to fit in with the theme. We may see some Woodies or some Highboys. For those who would like to tour the Smith Museum of American Speed, tours will be available on Thursday evening.

With the theme this year, Cone Surfin’ USA at the Concrete Beach, everyone is encouraged to decorate their cars, scooters, golf karts, trailers or whatever. We will find a way to acknowledge some of the more interesting variations on the theme. Don’t forget to wear your best beach shirts/tops. And remember to wear something under those grass skirts...

Competition begins on Tuesday morning, with the banquet on Wednesday night at the Lancaster Events Center, to award trophies for the Tuesday/Wednesday competition. We finish on Friday evening, again at the Lancaster Events Center, to award trophies for the Thursday/Friday competition.
