With the hard work and vision of Scott Dobler, the SEDIV will see it's first official divional events in over 3 years. With a lackluster attendance in the years leading up to the event hiadous, the SEDIV has been searching for a format to replace the traditional divisional series. While first attempting to put together a Match Tour alternative, the division has recently decided to go another direction with regards to event format, taken from one of SCCA's own programs: Rallycross.

For those unfamiliar, rallycross is run such that from your first run to your last run... EVERY RUN COUNTS! This means your times for the day may end up being 3, 4 or 5 minutes! Because of the changing course conditions from run to run in rallycross (think how much dirt and mud can be displaced in rally), this scoring system is a bit more meaningful. Additionally, another carryover from the rallycross format is the 10 second cone penalty. The combination of these two elements of the new divisional format means that even if you're not the fastest guy out there, being clean counts a lot more, as does being fast right out of the gates. The one twist that Solo will bring to this format is the drop of your slowest run of the day. This will help to account for first drivers who may be running on cold race tires. Scott and the SEDIV planning staff hope that this unique format will draw people out if for no other reason than to have some fun and mix-it-up in a different way than most Soloists are used to.
The first event is a two-day autocross hosted by Eastern Tennessee Region and will be a part of their normal points series. ETRSCCA and the Southeast Division are working to offer you a tiny taste of what national competition might feel like, but in a much more fun and laid-back atmosphere. ETR will host a welcome party on Saturday evening, so bring a chair and a tasty beverage. ETRSCCA will be providing burgers, dogs, and the fixins'. There's rumors of a kickball match and a big wheel race after Saturday's runs!
In addition to the new format, Scott has also put together an excellent contingency package to go along with the new divisional format:
