For years ProSolo competitors have battled their way through the regular season, scoring National ProSolo points in hopes of being able to compete for a ProSolo Championship come September.  While this method has produced decades of great competition and healthy fields, it has also left some Soloist out in the cold.  Some, who have been mathematically eliminated from a potential championship, opt out of the remainder of the season.  Others, who cannot commit to the Finale event, may choose not to run the series at all.  From these concerns, the 2011 Zone Championship concept was born. The Zone system effectively creates three ProSolo points chases.  Each Zone crowning it’s own champions, without asking drivers to commit to traveling outside of their zone or to any single event.  Sticking to the tried and true “best 2 of your first 3” formula, drivers can choose the events that are accessible to them and compete for a Zone Championship. The three Zones; Atlantic, Mid-America and Pacific, each will have 4 eligible events, with some events being shared among multiple Zones.  For example, the Lincoln ProSolo event will score points in all three Zones.  The remaining three events for each of the Zones are as follows: Atlantic- New Jersey, Oscoda and Blytheville Mid-America- Blytheville, Mineral Wells and Colorado Pacific- El Toro, Colorado and Packwood The ProSolo Finale will also see an adjustment for the 2011 season.  In the past, the year-end championships have really been a fight between a few drivers in each class leaving he rest of the field vying for bragging rights alone.  This year however, the Finale will be a true, winner take all affair with all drivers entered having an equal opportunity to win their class National Championship. Not only will this make for a more exciting Finale, it may mean that the hardest part of winning the Finale is just getting in.  This year, any driver with one ProSolo event can enter the Finale and compete for a class championship, though they will have to wait until all the two event drivers have had a chance.  Of course, the easiest entry into the Finale is to be invited and you can do that by winning a Class Championship in your Zone. Once all the dust has settled on class competition, there is still the matter of the Overall ProSolo Championship to determine.  As in years past, this top honor will be decided based upon points earned in Gum Out Super Challenges both during the regular season as well as at the Finale Event.
