Mario Andretti Writes a Letter to His Younger Self

A young Mario left everything he’d known in Italy behind as a result of World War II and ended up in America. He was uncertain as to whether or not his dream of racing would ever come true. Did America even have racing? Yes, America had racing and he would become a phenomenon.

In a letter, Mario talks his uncertain and scared younger self through all the things that his new life in America would bring. From the first dirt track race to winning at Monza, the track which inspired him to start racing, Mario shares his journey with his young, new-to-America, self, and all of us.
