Sports Car Club of America has received numerous comments and concerns over tire supply from Goodyear Tire for the remainder of the 2012 season. We have inquired from Goodyear and received the following statement:
“The demand for Goodyear sports car tires has outpaced our 2012 forecast by over 25%. Unfortunately, this has created shortages of some specific codes for our customers. Production has been prioritized by our contractual commitments and those codes with the highest demand. This will result in the inventory of some codes not being replenished before the end of the season. We apologize for the difficulty this may cause some customers.”
Per Goodyear, the tires subject to shortages are as follows:
GT & Production 1705 – 20.0x8.0-13 R430
1711 – 20.0x9.5-13 R430
2069 – 23.0x9.0-15 R250 1873 – 23.0x9.0-15 R475 1783 – 23.0x9.0-15 R600
Sports GT 1653 – 23.5x11.5-16 R430
Sports Car Radial 5875 – 23.5x10.5-16 R210 5880 – 25.5x12.0-16 R210
Formula 2814 – 21.0x5.0-15 R430 2815 – 22.5x5.5-15 R430
Racers are encouraged to check with their dealers as some may still have remaining supply of these tires. Racers with contingency awards from 2012 that are not able to redeem due to availability will have those awards honored in 2013.
