TOPEKA, Kan. (September 19, 2013) – The nearly 700 competitors at this week’s 50th SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Road America are racing for trophies, pride and honor, but 37 SCCA contingency sponsors still reward strong performances with cash and merchandise.

Mazda North American Operations, the official car of the SCCA, offers $5,000 for a win in eligible classes, and $2,500 and $1,250 for podium finishes. Additionally, Mazda is rewarding any driver who completes the prestigious Super Sweep with $3,000.

Honda Performance Development offers each Honda and Acura driver who begins the Championship race a $500 bonus, along with a $100 parking fee reimbursement to help cover the costs of the event weekend. Race winners earn an additional $2,500 from HPD, with $1,500 and $1,000 for second and third-place finishes.

To support the B-Spec class, Fiat USA Motorsports is offering $5,000 to anyone who can win the race in the 500. A runner-up pays $2,500, with third-place paying $1,250. Ford Racing is offering contingency to top finishers at the Runoffs in eligible classes with Ford power. Winners will receive $2,500, with $1,000 and $750 going to podium finishers. MINI USA rewards drivers for top finishes in H Production, GT-Lite, Touring 4 and STU. Winners in each of the eligible classes will receive $2,500, with $1,500 and $1,000 for the podium finishers. B-Spec winners in a MINI Cooper can pocket $1,000. Nissan North America’s plan rewards National Champions in eligible cars and classes with as much as $2,500 for a win in a Nissan, Datsun or Infiniti at this year’s Runoffs. Toyota/TRD offers $5,000 for a National Championship in GT-2 and GT-3, with $3,000 for a runner-up finish in those classes. Toyota competitors in other classes earn $3,000 for the win and $2,000 for second. Additionally, Toyota drivers earning the pole position will garner a $1,000 cash prize. Scion matches Toyota’s $3,000 and $2,000 payout, as well as the pole award prize.

Volkswagen of America, pays out $5,000 to winners in the Touring 3, Touring 4 and Super Touring Under classes, with second and third place finishers earning $3,000 and $1,000. F and H Production drivers earn $2,000 for a win, $1,000 for second and $500 for third, with Formula Vee drivers earning $1,000, $750, and $500 for podium finishes. For those competitors in a BMW at the Runoffs, Classic BMW in Texas is offering a$1,000 gift certificate for parts for a National Championship, and $500 and $250 certificates for a podium finish. The rubber meets the road, quite literally, in the tire category where five manufacturers support the competitors. BFGoodrich Tires, the Official Street Tire of SCCA, is once again offering eligible National Champions 12 tires and the opportunity to win a seat in the SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race, quite a change from the pavement of Club Racing. Second through fourth-place finishers can earn up to six tires for the effort. Goodyear-shod competitors will earn a $1,500 product certificate for a win, with $1,000 and $500 certificates for the remaining podium finishers.

Hankook Tires presents cash awards to the top five finishers in eligible classes. National Champions take home $4,000, with $2,000 and $1,000 going to the final podium positions, respectively. Missing the podium by one position on Hankooks still nets $500. Hoosier Racing Tire extends benefits for National Champions into next season. Winners will earn four tires, plus an additional four tires for every 2014 U.S. Majors Tour event the driver enters. They pay the Spec Miata field even deeper, with the winner earning 16 free tires, eight going to the runner-up and six going to the final podium position. Fourth and fifth-place get four tires, with sixth through 10th earning a pair of Hoosier tires. A GT-2 driver who sports Michelin Tires will win four new tires with a National Championship.

Road America provides some heavy braking zones, and those manufacturers have stepped to the plate as well. The Official Brake Products of SCCA, Hawk is offering a product certificates all the way through the top-10 in eligible classes. Five free axel sets will go to the winner, through a $50 certificate for 10th. Hawk will also award a Hawk Hot Lap Award of $100 to the driver posting the fast lap in each race. Winners using Carbotech Brakes will also earn a product sponsorship for the 2014 season, with product certificates ranging from $300 to $50 offered for finishing second through 10th in the event. ProSpeed is helping to slow down with their brake fluids. All program participants will receive a discounted purchase price for the RS683 brake fluid, with four bottles given to each eligible podium finisher.

In addition to the brake fluid, a driver’s choice of fuel and oil can net contingency. Sunoco, the Official Fuel of SCCA, is handing out a $100 cash prize to the driver who gains the most positions from the beginning of the race to the finish as the Sunoco Hard Charger. The Official Oil of SCCA, Mobil 1 offers $500 cash and a Mobil 1 racing suit for a National Championship. Runners-up will receive a $400 product certificate, while third-place finishers will earn a $250 certificate. All drivers who register for the Mobil 1 program will receive a hat and tire pressure gauge. Red Line Synthetic Oil also offers a custom Red Line Oil custom driver suit to National Champions participating in their program, with $400 and $250 product certificates to second and third-place finishers. Suspension components are another integral part of a race car.

Penske Shocks rewards podium finishers with $250, $150 and $100 product certificates, respectively, for podium finishes. Drivers using HyperCo Suspension Coils can gain two for a win or a runner-up finish, with one Hypercoil for a third-place finish.

GoPro, the official camera of SCCA, will hand one driver in each race a GoPro HERO3 Camera to the driver determined to have made the GoPro Hero Move of the Race.

AiM Sports offers an AiM Solo lap timer for a Runoffs race win at Road America in every class for their data acquisition system. Race Technology USA is offering significant discounts on their DL1, VIDEO4, VIDEO4+GPS, DASH2, DASH3 or DASH4Pro systems and accessories to podium finishers not already using their products and gift certificates for parts and upgrades to those who are.

There are a number of retail outlets that sell products to Club Racers and are rewarding them at the Runoffs. SafeRacer, the season-long title sponsor of the SafeRacer National Series and Official Safety Provider of SCCA, is rewarding SafeRacer Pole winners with a SafeRacer Driving Suit. Fourth-place finishers will earn a $50 product certificate for their hard work.

Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies offers fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers gift certificates worth up to $75 in each race, and a $250 Pegasus gift certificate to any driver who can capture the prestigious Super Sweep award. Summit Racing Equipment is rewarding the top-six finishers in all classes with up to $150 in gift certificates, but they don’t stop there. The first eligible drivers who fall out of the race will win Summit’s “Hard Luck” award and a $50 certificate. Two racing service providers are also supporting customers with contingencies. Taylor Racing Engineering is rewarding National Champions with a $250 product certificate, while Tilton Engineering offers product certificates up to $175 for first, third and fifth place. The list continues into a variety of other services and products.

Spec Racer Ford drivers will notch $750, $500 or $250 parts certificates from SCCA Enterprises for finishing on the podium in the hotly contested class. Formula Enterprises podium finishers are rewarded with a $250 certificate for a win, $150 for second, and $100 for third. The B-Spec National Champion will earn free entry fees from Pirelli World Challenge for 2014, with three event entries for runner-up and one for a third-place finish.

Subscribe to Grassroots Motorsports magazine? Any driver that does, and wins a National Championship, will earn $100 in cash. Participants in the ChassisTools.com program who finish in the sixth position will get some help to move into the top five, with a 20% discount on any Longacre product purchased from the website, as well as earning a digital tire pressure guage.

Cars on the podium that use an Electromotive ignition or engine management system and finish in first, second or fifth will earn a product certificate for $150, $100 or $50 to spend.

When you race rain or shine, Holliday Canopy provides a break from both. National Champions can earn a $300 custom road racing canopy product certificate, but current owners of a Holiday Canopy can take $150 in cash instead. All eligible participants can take home a $300 certificate to help purchase a canopy of their own.
