AVONDALE, La. (February 7, 2014) – The first visit of the BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour to NOLA Motorsports Park brought a consensus from drivers on two topics – that the 16-turn, 2.75-mile circuit was a fun layout to drive, and that the temperatures were cold.

While Friday’s pair of qualifying sessions featured temperatures peaking in the mid-40s, the weekend forecast should see ideal mid-60s and sunny skies for highs.

Each of the seven race groups ran 25-minute qualifying sessions in the morning, and again after lunch. The best posted time from Friday, along with a 15-minute Saturday morning session, will set the grid for Saturday’s 30-minute timed races.

For Sunday’s races, scheduled for 17 laps or 40 minutes, drivers will be able to use the fast time from each of the three qualifying sessions or their best time from Saturday’s race – whichever is quicker.

Both BFGoodrich Tires NOLA Super Tour races count for full race points for the Mid-States Conference and “nation-wide” points, as well as for contingency awards.

Friday was also the BFGoodrich Tires participant party at NOLA Motorsports Park. Prizes awarded to workers in attendance included five $100 bills, with drivers walking away with prizes that included a set of BFGoodrich Tires for either the street or track, two days of Avis car rental and a GoPro Hero3 camera.

The BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour also marks the first U.S. Majors Tour event to award prizes in victory circle. Each race group, at every Majors Tour event until the end of the season, will hand a prize to a randomly selected driver in attendance at the victory circle ceremony.

This weekend’s prizes include a GoPro Hero3 camera, $50 SafeRacer gift certificate, a $50 Summit Racing gift certificate, tire gauge, pyrometer, Driven cleaning solution, and a Grassroots Motorsports subscription and t-shirt.
