TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 15, 2008) Round Six of the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup at Miller Motorsports Park approaches, but fans who cant make it out need not fret, plenty of MX-5 Cup racing is scheduled to hit the airwaves shortly. On Saturday, Sept. 20, Round Four of the MX-5 Cup from Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., will air at 7 p.m. (EDT) on Comcast Sports Net West. Todd Buras starts from his first ever MX-5 Cup pole in the No. 56 Hooverspeed/Pancreaticcure.org MX-5, but starting on pole and staying up front are two different matters at the high-speed, four-mile road course. The race quickly become a drafting war and the No. 81 Team MER/Airco Mechanical MX-5 of Ryan Schimsk and No. 28 Team MER/Autobarn Mazda of Eric Foss work together to pull away from the field. Once Buras hooks up with Hooverspeed teammate and Round Three winner Brad Rampelberg in the No. 14 Hooverspeed/Mazda/Patron Tequila MX-5, the pair is able to mount an attack for the lead. Tune into Comcast Sports Net West or check your regional cable sports networks to see which duo will cross the line first.Round Five at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières will be broadcast shortly thereafter, on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network, Sept. 23, at noon (EDT) and at 8:30 p.m. (EDT), Sept. 25 on Comcast Sports Net West. Point leader Foss gets his third MX-5 Cup pole position of the season, which will come in handy on the narrow and concrete-lined temporary street circuit. Foss gets another break when second-starting Ara Malkhassian in the No. 11 Alara Racing MX-5 has to stay focused on holding off Buras, and loses time to Foss. Though Foss is able to build a substantial gap on the field, a late race caution period bunches everyone back up and gives Buras and Malkhassian one last chance to snatch the win.
