Three Hours of World Challenge on SPEED Wednesday

TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 15. 2008) €“ If you€™re already going into World Challenge withdrawal, turn your TV to SPEED today, Oct. 15, for three hours of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Championships.Beginning at noon (EDT), SPEED GT makes its first appearance at Thunderbolt Raceway, part of the recently opened New Jersey Motorsports Park. Brandon Davis€™ No. 10 ACS/Sun Microsystems Ford Mustang starts from the pole position, but he can€™t match the start James Sofronas gets in the No. 14 Global Motorsports Group Porsche 911 GT3. Sofronas appears to be en route to his first World Challenge race win when a late race caution forces a green-white-checker finish. Keep it on SPEED to see if Sofronas can hold on for the win.Next at 1 p.m. (EDT) it€™s the Road Atlanta SPEED GT Finale Presented by Foametix®. In a shocker, Tommy Milner puts the No. 21 Rahal Letterman Racing Aston Martin DB9 on pole, the first for Aston Martin in World Challenge competition. Making up for his poor start at New Jersey, second-starting Davis rockets his Mustang into the lead as the start lights go out. While Milner attempts to run down Davis, Eric Curran€™s No. 30 Whelen Engineering Chevrolet Corvette is marching through the field, eventually catching Andy Pilgrim€™s No. 8 Remington Shaving & Grooming Cadillac CTS-V. Then there€™s Randy Pobst, who must finish the race in the No. 1 K-PAX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 to win the 2008 Drivers€™ Championship. Will Milner find a way to get Aston Martin its first World Challenge win? Will Curran claim the final podium spot? Who will be the SPEED GT Champion? Tune into SPEED to find out how the SPEED GT season ends. Finally, at 2 p.m. (EDT), the Road Atlanta SPEED Touring Car Finale Presented by Toyo Tires® is as exciting as they come. Chip Herr may have won pole in the No. 97 Mazdaspeed/Tindol Motorsports MAZDA6, but unfortunately for Herr the focus of the race shifts toward third, fourth and fifth, where the three SPEED Touring Car Championship contenders are locked in a heated battle. Get your calculators ready, because every position change between teammates Pierre Kleinubing, Peter Cunningham and Kuno Wittmer, adds up to a different Champion being crowned. Just when it appears the title has been settled, a full-course caution on lap 17 brings everyone back into the Championship frame. Just because they€™re teammates, doesn€™t mean they won€™t make a last-minute diving move on one another, so make sure you€™re there for every lap to see who will take home the 2008 SPEED Touring Car Drivers€™ Championship. The SPEED GT and SPEED Touring Car Finales from Road Atlanta will re-air on SPEED, Oct. 16, at 3 and 4 a.m. (EDT), respectively.Divided into two separate series and races (SCCA SPEED GT and SCCA SPEED Touring Car), the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Championships are America€™s top production car-based series. Competing at 12 high-profile venues in 2008, the series is an important showcase for the world€™s leading auto brands and makers of performance parts.
